MIXED REALITY
a story driven exhibition

Mixed Reality

Logo https://stories.rrcgn.de/generation-europe-2020

The word ‘reality’ has a weird taste when we read it. Add ‘mixed’ to it and it gets even weirder. But our reality has always been mixed. The way we perceive it, the way we
experience it, the way we translate it for ourselves and the others. Our visions and hearings get turned to feelings, later to words and then, art. From then on, art turns to life and thus the circle starts again. The thing is that it is different every time. Reality is acknowledged through virtual meetings to come close; through compression of physical distances when we go out and move; through obliterating physical limitations, every time each one imagines a ‘what if’ and an ‘or’, making their and our reality mixed.

Generation Europe Mixed Reality 2020 is a pioneering virtual exchange programme for young artists from Germany, Italy and Greece. It is a collectively creative project that aims at allowing us to express our perception of a mixed reality.Even though the current ‘mixed reality’ is a fusion of virtual and physical experiences, for us, our reality has always been mixed. Mixed between the reality of what is on stage and what is backstage, mixed between the shooting and the screening of a film, mixed between the moments that we live and try to find a way to show you and tell you about them in this programme.

So, you can eat an apple with or without its peel, right? And that decision is up to you, me, everyone. But what becomes of us when eating the apple peel or not becomes a topic of the media and the press? Which do YOU choose?

The Greek word for "return" is nostos. Algos means "suffering." So nostalgia is the suffering caused by an unappeased yearning to return.

Arché (Αρχή) is a discovery of the Identity, of the Id, of the Ego and the Super-Ego: it is a type of deconstruction which invites recomposition. For example as in a crisis Arché will destroy in order to allow rebirth into a beautiful living being.

What is truly real? What is essential in life? What do we really need to be happy and full?

Beyond appearance, beyond the filters of our sick society and our modern habits, there is a world that offers the simplest beauty we can imagine, a world that thrives through the magic essentiality of Nature, a world of pureness and tenderness, a world whose risk is to drown in a virtual screen, whose danger is to be forgotten, if nobody will take care of it.

Arché (Αρχή) is an epiphany, the awareness of the connectivity to the surrounding environment. Arché is constant, ethernal, an infinite display, the natural ebb and flow, the rhythm and pulse of every living thing, it’s the circle of life.

How strong is the human capacity to adapt to what happens around us?

This question gained more importance during the lockdown, which forced us to try to adapt to the physical limits imposed for people’s sake.

As water fits the container in which it is placed, the body had to adapt to the restricted places in which it had to live.
